Preterm Labor Warning Signs

  • More than four contractions in one hour.
  • Leaking clear fluid (this could be amniotic fluid) or blood from your vagina.
  • Heaviness in your pelvis or lower abdomin, feeling like the baby is pushing downwards.
  • A backache that affects your lower back.
  • Painful cramps that feel like menstrual cramps.
  • You feel like you may have a urinary tract infection.
  • Diarrhea and shaky legs.
  • Restlessness and the inability to sleep even when you're tired.
  • You just feel a little "off." This warning sign sounds rather vague (I know!), but if something just doesn't feel right, listen to your body--you do know best.

If you feel even one of these warning signs, call your doctor!
